This 18th-century salmon coral bracelet is a collection piece distinguished by its sculptural carving. A large figural centrepiece combines a human figure with flowing decorative forms, while two rows of individually shaped coral beads continue the carved design around the bracelet.
The coral displays warm salmon-orange tones with lighter areas that emphasise the contours of the carving. Close examination reveals details in the figure, drapery and surrounding ornament, giving the centrepiece a different character from each angle.
