Antique 900 Silver Cigarette Case with Scrollwork – c. 1900

An ornate antique 900 silver cigarette case with flowing scrollwork, floral details and oval cartouches. Raised decoration frames the smooth panels, giving the compact rectangular form an elegant sculptural quality.

The rounded corners and slim hinged construction make this an appealing example of a personal accessory collected today for its decorative silverwork. An engraved dedication and dates on one exterior panel add a personal layer to its history; these inscriptions are not treated as proof of the manufacturing date.
